Reactions of Outsiders.

Yesterday I went to the mall with a friend of mine that dresses alternatively as well.  While walking to the mall we had two men in a car honk their horn and make kissy faces at us.  We were amused by this reaction and actually blew kisses back.  Afterwards we laughed at the situation and went on our way and nearly forgot about it.  While at the mall we got the usual stares and wide eyed children not quite knowing what to think.  One little girl in particular pointed up at us and asked her mother "mommy, what's that?"(probably referring to my friends mohawk).  Her mother politely smiled at us and told the little girl to say hi.  The little girl obeyed and gave us one of the cutest smiles I have ever seen.

So overall fairly good reactions.  But then while walking back to my friends apartment a car drove by us honked its horn and the guy stuck out his middle finger at us.  Neither my friend and I were really insulted, I mean seriously why would we care what some random person driving by thinks, but we were left extremely confused.  We didn't quite understand what he was trying to do by insulting us, were we supposed to go home and cry and never dress this way again.  It just didn't make any sense why someone would even be angry at another persons appearance, especially a person you are probably never going to see again in your life.

So anyway yesterday made me think of other reactions I have received from outsiders.  There have been instances of seeing the same car circling the block three times just to get better looks at me, people full out stopping on the side of the street just to stare, and one rather creepy man that will walk out of his house and to the end of his property when I walk by with my friend.

There have also been some polite people to such as an elderly lady telling me I dressed much more classy than most of the young girls she sees.  Countless compliments and questions asking where I found certain wardrobe pieces or how I got my hair a certain colour and so on.

This wasn't really much of a post or anything, I just felt like sharing some of the everyday reactions I receive based on the way I dress.

If you would like to share some of the reactions you get just leave a comment, even if I don't reply I do read ever single one :P

  1. I think that the best thing to do with negative feedbacks is ignoring them and walk away. They can be dangerous if you react, who knows...I mean, after all it's just bla bla bla...who cares?
But it's nice when you get good ones, it's nice to see that there's always nice people around, thank God :)

    1. I agree, no point in getting upset over some random persons opinion. Life is way too short to not live it the way you want.

  2. I usually get positive responses! The few times someone has tried to draw me into an argument with an insult, I usually just pretend I can't hear them or sometimes even smile their way.

  3. Hey, you have one chance in life, don't get bummed out by what people think! If you and your friend are happy about how you dress, who cares what other people think? They're just jealous! :)

I still have few rude comments flying my way, but oh well.
